Joseph Allan McCabe - 05/26/09

Denise is not writing this post as usual. Kevin is. Denise deserves a break. She was outstanding in giving birth to our second child and first son. His first name comes from my father who died about 2 1/2 years ago. His middle name is from his other grandfather. He is a huge child. He is 9 lbs, 2 oz., 21+ inches long. I think Daphne was a couple months old before reaching that size.

I am not sure what we will call him. My dad went by Joe. Denise and my mom seem partial to Joey (how YOU doin'). I kind of like Joe-Mama, but I may change my mind.

We arrived at the hospital between 7-8 am on 5/26 and he was born at 10:33 am. We came home at 6:00 pm the next day. Most importantly, everyone is doing well. Mom and baby are checking out fine.

Daphne and Joseph exchanged gifts. Joseph got Daphne stickers of Curious George because that is what she wanted to name the new baby. Daphne got Joseph a ballon and cake courtesy of my mom and a blue bib Daphne picked out (although she really wanted to get a pink one for him). They each got Big Sister/Little Brother outfits.

Daphne also got him a book which she read to him.

Going to the Zoo

This week has been very peaceful...

I'm off work until the baby comes (and after) and Daphne and I get to spend some time together. On Monday morning, Kevin, Daphne and I went to the zoo....

Today's the due date, so let's see what happens.... (I wrote this post on the 14th and scheduled to have it posted today).

Potty Training

We have been (unsuccessfully) trying to potty train Daphne for quite awhile. Unless we remind her to go to the bathroom, she doesn't care about getting wet - even big girl underwear and pull-ups with the 'cold zone' don't seem to affect her. And she doesn't seem to think that she should go #2 in the potty.

But this day, she thought she would try to go #2 in the potty - mostly because she gets more candy if she goes poopie in the potty....

Kevin wanted to get Daphne a tee so she could play some ball (just like her parents). And she's been pretty good with batting.

Ann & Gabe and Noah & Benjamin came into town the last weekend in April. And since the weather was so gorgeous, we went to the park at Sawyer Point.

update

Kevin will be happy that I'm finally getting to the blog. We've had lots of pictures over the past month and I've now been on maternity leave for a week without touching the blog. So here it goes, the update of our lives before the big Birth Day - which is still yet to be determined.

After that birth date, there may be a new focus here.

We last went up to Brunswick in April for Easter... Mom took Daphne swimming at the rec center.
